Roles and Responsibilities

At ABB Machines in Västerås, we design and manufacture high-quality, energy-efficient motors and generators delivered to customers worldwide. We are now looking for a dedicated Test Room Technician who wants to ensure that every control cabinet delivered with our machines meets the highest quality standards.

As a Test Room Technician, you will be a valuable part of our team responsible for final testing and verification of our customized control cabinets before delivery. You will work in a technically challenging and varied environment, where you perform tests, measurements, and check PLC and protection relay programs. Additionally, you will meet customers from around the world and collaborate with them when they visit us for our final tests (FAT).

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Performing final tests of control cabinets for magnetization systems, including electrical connections, measurements, and verification of PLC and protection relay programs.
• Troubleshooting and identifying electrical issues and software faults in the control cabinets.
• Collaborating with designers, production staff, and customers during the testing process.
• Actively contributing to continuous improvements and safety initiatives within the department.

Your background

• Experience in testing or commissioning electrical equipment, including control cabinets or test systems, preferably with education in electrical engineering, automation, or control systems.
• Good understanding of PLC programming, electrical schematics, and control systems. Knowledge of motor control principles, such as start/stop, frequency control, and protection relay systems is an advantage.
• Practical experience in wiring, adjusting, and troubleshooting electrical control cabinets, as well as proficiency in electrical measurement methods (multimeter, insulation tester). Experience with FREJA/Sverker or other signal generator systems is a plus.
• Structured and safety-conscious with the ability to document test results, communicate clearly, and collaborate effectively with both colleagues and customers.
• Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office.
